Welcome to Highland Hardwood Website! Highland Hardwoods, LLC of Floyd County Virginia is a family owned lumber business. They have been in the lumber business nearly 42 years. Samuel W. Hancock is the managing member and has been for all of those years. If you can imagine the wood work Highland Hardwoods (Hardwood Market Place) can build it. Many of our pieces are hand crafted from pictures brought in by our customers. They only design and build heirloom pieces of furniture.
Mr. Hancock is a third generation woodworker, growing up in his father’s woodworking shop. His first projects were box traps to catch rabbits. Today he and his team handcrafts some of the finest furniture, hardwood floors, cabinets and fireplace mantles to be found in Virginia or for that matter around the world. Highland Hardwoods can hand craft a stairway to match any hardwood floor. They specialize in antique maple, white oak, red oak, hickory and cherry stairways. Highland Hardwoods of Virginia owns its very own multi million dollar saw mill. The saw mill is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains right in the heart of the highest quality Appalachian hardwood region, Floyd Virginia. This region is famous for the highest quality hardwoods in the world. Appalachian Hardwood’s color density and workability are unmatched and are sought after world wide. Highland Hardwoods of Virginia operates a retail lumber business known as Custom Cut Hardwoods. From this division you can order small amounts of most types of Appalachian Hardwoods. They deliver small pallets of hardwood “custom cut” to your specification to your home of wood working shop. Most of these orders are four, five or six foot pieces of lumber. Up to 150 pounds of finished lumber can be shipped to your location via UPS. About Floyd County Virginia Floyd County is a plateau atop of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Floyd is a place of beginnings. All water flows from natural springs and rain into pristine mountain creeks. There are NO creeks that flow into Floyd County therefore no one else can pollute our water. Floyd is a county with only one stop light and no four lane roads. It’s a place where neighbors know each other. Floyd is a place with a large number of gifted craftsmen, artist, writers, potters, and musicians. Highland Hardwoods fits right in with this group and our store front is located near the one stop light. |
